- Passage to Vietnam comes with QuickTime for Windows already
- installed for you. In most environments, this should work fine.
- However, if you already have an earlier version of QuickTime for
- Windows installed on your hard drive, that version may conflict
- with the newer version on this CD-ROM. If this happens, you'll
- need to remove the old version from your hard drive by using the
- File Manager in Windows.
-
- First go into the Windows folder and delete all files with a .QTC
- extension. Next go into the System folder in the Windows folder
- and delete all .QTC files. That's it.
-
- An installer for this new version of QuickTime for Windows is
- included on the Passage to Vietnam CD-ROM if you'd like to
- reinstall it back onto your hard drive. Just run SETUP.EXE located
- in the QTW directory of this CD-ROM.
-
-
- Here are some other things to try...
-
- * Make sure no other programs are running in Windows.
-
- * Disable Virtual Memory in the 386 Enhanced control panel.
-
- * For faster performance, set your video display to 640x480 and 256
- colors. For better video quality, select a video display option that
- displays more than 256 colors.
-
- * Remove any unnecessary device drivers and other programs that
- may be using memory.
-
- * Check the supported video and audio information below to make
- sure your system is a supported environment.

- Supported Video and Audio systems...
-
- Passage to Vietnam requires video software drivers and hardware
- that fully support Windows 3.1 standards. The following video
- systems have been tested and found to be compatible with Passage
- to Vietnam during playback. Contact the video card manufacturer
- for more information.
-
- Passage to Vietnam is not limited to these systems. If you
- experience difficulties with a card that is not on this list, first test it
- at 640 x 480 resolution with the monitor's color depth set to 8 bit
- (256 colors). Next, contact the hardware manufacturer to find out if
- the problem has been addressed with an updated driver.
-
- The following cards have been tested and provide acceptable
- results: (listed as video card, bus type, driver date, revision, notes)

- * IBM computers that have the M-Audio sound card should use
- driver version 1.3 or higher for best results. Older versions of this
- driver don't play all sounds in Passage to Vietnam. The version 1.3
- driver did not pass the 16-bit sounds test. Testing revealed that 8-
- bit sounds are corrupted when played after a 16-bit sound. At the
- time these release notes were written, version 1.3 (dated 1/10/94)
- was the most recent driver available from IBM.
