  1. Passage to Vietnam comes with QuickTime for Windows already 
  2. installed for you. In most environments, this should work fine. 
  3. However, if you already have an earlier version of QuickTime for 
  4. Windows installed on your hard drive, that version may conflict 
  5. with the newer version on this CD-ROM. If this happens, you'll 
  6. need to remove the old version from your hard drive by using the 
  7. File Manager in Windows. 
  8.  
  9. First go into the Windows folder and delete all files with a .QTC 
  10. extension. Next go into the System folder in the Windows folder 
  11. and delete all .QTC files. That's it. 
  12.  
  13. An installer for this new version of QuickTime for Windows is 
  14. included on the Passage to Vietnam CD-ROM if you'd like to 
  15. reinstall it back onto your hard drive. Just run SETUP.EXE located 
  16. in the QTW directory of this CD-ROM.

  19. Here are some other things to try... 
  20.  
  21. * Make sure no other programs are running in Windows. 
  22.  
  23. * Disable Virtual Memory in the 386 Enhanced control panel. 
  24.  
  25. * For faster performance, set your video display to 640x480 and 256 
  26. colors. For better video quality, select a video display option that 
  27. displays more than 256 colors. 
  28.  
  29. * Remove any unnecessary device drivers and other programs that 
  30. may be using memory. 
  31.  
  32. * Check the supported video and audio information below to make 
  33. sure your system is a supported environment. 
  34.

  36. Supported Video and Audio systems...

  38. Passage to Vietnam requires video software drivers and hardware 
  39. that fully support Windows 3.1 standards. The following video 
  40. systems have been tested and found to be compatible with Passage 
  41. to Vietnam during playback.  Contact the video card manufacturer 
  42. for more information. 
  43.  
  44. Passage to Vietnam is not limited to these systems. If you 
  45. experience difficulties with a card that is not on this list, first test it 
  46. at 640 x 480 resolution with the monitor's color depth set to 8 bit 
  47. (256 colors). Next, contact the hardware manufacturer to find out if 
  48. the problem has been addressed with an updated driver.

  155. *  IBM computers that have the M-Audio sound card should use 
  156. driver version 1.3 or higher for best results. Older versions of this 
  157. driver don't play all sounds in Passage to Vietnam. The version 1.3 
  158. driver did not pass the 16-bit sounds test. Testing revealed that 8-
  159. bit sounds are corrupted when played after a 16-bit sound. At the 
  160. time these release notes were written, version 1.3 (dated 1/10/94) 
  161. was the most recent driver available from IBM.
